Our Team

Meet Emma - Director
Specialist Teacher and Mental Health Practitioner

Emma's qualifications extend beyond teaching and counselling. She is also qualified in Sensory Integration, which she recognises is often overlooked when understanding some of the difficulties autistic people face. Furthermore, Emma has qualified with IPSEA (Independent Parental Special Education Advice) and possesses lived experience as a mother of children with additional needs, including autism. This first-hand understanding allows her to approach support from a compassionate and empathetic standpoint.

Emma's expertise extends beyond individual support. She has delivered parent training, professional development sessions, and workshops for organisations, charities and schools. Her knowledge and insights have been sought after by various groups seeking to enhance their understanding of autism.

Additionally, Emma has provided commissioned autism-specific therapy for the National Health Service (NHS), collaborating with teams such as the Eating Disorder Team and Mental Health Recovery Teams. Her contributions to these services have positively impacted the lives of many individuals seeking specialised support.

At The Autism Wellbeing Project, we are proud to have Emma as part of our team, leading with her expertise and personal understanding. Together, we are committed to making a difference and promoting the wellbeing and quality of or autistic individuals and their families.

Emma is an exceptional teacher with more than 15 years of experience, specialising in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly autism. What sets Emma apart is not only her extensive professional expertise but also her personal journey as a neurodiverse individual. She firmly believes that support for autistic individuals should be driven by their voices and experiences.

In addition to her teaching background, Emma is a trained counsellor, earning recognition as Therapist of the Year in 2020. Her dedication and hard work during the pandemic were so remarkable that the people she supported sent her to Buckingham Palace to celebrate her achievements.
