TESTIMONIALS

Since my adult diagnosis I have learnt so much about myself and why I do what I do , the adult group are encouraged to also share and help each which is great too.
I can feel safe on line with the zoom learning, and relating to it is crossing the T and dotting my I’s.

Thank you to the team

Having being passed from pillar to post with various different therapies I was finally handed to Emma who instantly recognised what I needed especially to helping me in my recovery from an eating disorder.

Emma knows how an autistic mind functions and what type of therapy will be beneficial to you. For me she makes me think from a different perspective and challenge the thoughts. She also knows how far to push you which has enabled me to do things that I would have never done before.

I used to loathe therapy sessions but now I look forward to them.

She has changed my life helping me to come to terms with my late autism diagnosis and to make huge steps in my eating disorder recovery.

Thank you!

Emma is a wonderful individual who is able to really connect with people who have ASD. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and caring nature have allowed a client we referred to be able to trust in a professional for the first time. This has enabled them to jointly address and explore their current problems in a safe and appropriately paced way. I would recommend this service to anyone as I believe they are truly able to help people to make their lives better through their ongoing support and approach .

Emma and the team have been a constant support since joining, the team continue to offer support and services which aren’t always easy to access for us autistic adults. With their understanding and awareness of any difficulties autistic individuals may experience they ensure all activities whether this be therapies, zoom or social meets are "autism" friendly. Its rare to find a service which has workers who actually care and treat you with kindness, this service shows how much the workers actually care. Ive always found there to be a difference in how other professionals and groups have treat individuals with autism leaving the individuals to be felt feeling that they are being perceived as incapable or "less than", this service thrives on aiding clients in being aware of their strengths and helping aid you in strengthening any areas you may need rather than making you feel "different".

The two sessions I've had had with you have benefited me more than the 11 years of therapy I've had. Not only have you booked me in last minute to cater my needs but you've also been a guiding light every day. You've helped me understand my mental health and why I struggle with things and how this is all linked to my autism when my past previous therapists couldn't, helping me to understand this has took such a weight off my shoulders in finally knowing why I'm like this. I usually don't react well with therapists, I close them off and shut down, afraid to let anyone that close...but you have a way to make your clients feel safe, comfortable and most importantly heard. Your sessions have helped guide me through my darkest hours and I'm forever grateful for it and you 💝 Don't even need to remain anonymous I'll shout it from the roof tops🤣

I know that the therapy is helping me because I feel more confident and brighter in my mood. I feel more willing to try new things too. The therapy that I receive from Emma is different to the previous mental health interventions that I have had, because I feel easy talking to Emma and opening up to her. She very quickly gained a good understanding of me and tailored my therapy to my individual needs. Previously I felt misunderstood by the psychiatrists and NHS CBT therapist, and this was a very real barrier to me receiving the appropriate treatment. With Emma I feel relaxed she makes it easy for me to understand what I need to do to make positive changes in my life. Thanks Emma for everything that you do

I have found doing the therapy with Emma really useful in helping me to understand certain elements of my autism that I was not aware of beforehand, such as the various sensory stuff and thought processes, and how it can link into mental health. I have never had this type of therapy before so it was very different but I think I’ve found it the most helpful because it is with somebody who understands ASD, and the therapy has taken into consideration my autism and how it may make things a bit more difficult, rather than just brushing it to one side. I also find the sessions a lot more comfortable with Emma because I don’t have to sit there and just talk for an hour, I can do and focus on other stuff whilst talking or just listening, and I’m not pressured to talk either.

I had a really bad experience of counselling, which left me not wanting to have any more sessions as it just didn't work for me, and in fact made things worse.

I was really nervous about meeting Emma over Zoom, as I'm not really that comfortable with online stuff.  Emma was brilliant though, and put me completely at ease.  Her sessions are amazing, and I really look forward to them every week.  She is my best friend as well as my therapist.  She always makes me feel comfortable.  She listens and takes in what I'm saying.  She really understands me.  She helps me communicate with my mum when I just don't know how to discuss a topic with her.  Emma has made me realise my worth.  She is amazing!!

It's no exaggeration to say that Emma has changed our lives!  Not only has Emma been a massive support to my daughter , but she has also been a huge support to me.  She has helped my understanding of  my daughter and from that I am able to work on strategies to support her better.  Emma is able to articulate to me what she can't, and this is a huge benefit.  We both trust Emma completely.  Emma works with my daughter on various strategies, but is completely lead by her and what works best for her.  The difference in her in just a few months is incredible.  She is happier, more confident and starting to believe in herself.

I can’t put into words how grateful I am of you working endlessly to make sure I get the correct help and support.  You go above and beyond your role.  Thank you for not giving up on me when I push you away and make things hard.  Thank you for listening to me and helping me to open up and know it’s OK to feel the way I do.  Thank you for always getting back to me.

You are the best therapist ever!  Nothing is too much trouble and you always have other people’s interests in front of yours.
